Although they don’t have a comprehensive guide, they do have a great “How-To” section for local search information. They also report on the latest new and trends in the search industry.
Mike Blumenthal is one of the thought leaders in the local space. He is the founder of GetFiveStars.com and co-founder of LocalU. Having been a part of a family owned business that operated for over 30 years he has the experience to speak about both the digital and brick and mortar sides. His blog may not be the prettiest one around but it has some great information. The blog’s primary focus is on Google local search but also includes a lot of great information about local search in general. This is definitely one to check out.
Whitespark is a Canadian company focused on providing local search tools and services. They are one of the leaders in the space as well as a frequent contributor at many of the search conferences. Their blog is a great resource on local search. It contains a diverse list of topics ranging from citation information to industry news. This is a great all around blog to follow and read.
LocalU is primarily known for their workshops and training sessions, helping business owners succeed in local search. Beyond their training they offer a ton of free information about local search. The blog is a bit hard to navigate but if you take your time you can find a lot of great information.
